Custom Orders
What you need to know…
Hi and welcome to the Custom Orders info page! Here you will find some basic information on how custom orders work and what will be required from you as the customer as well as what you can expect from me.
Firstly, I would like to highlight that it costs absolutely nothing to make an inquiry and to explore the possibility of a custom order. Regardless of whether it is for a variation of an existing product in my store ie: different colour combinations or sizing etc. or whether it be for a quote on a project that is not in my store but that you are interested in getting made. Whatever the reason, my consultation and quote are absolutely free. Below is a breakdown of how the process will work for various situations and what information or details you will need to provide in order for me to provide you with the best possible service, product, and quote.
Custom Variations on Current Products in store.
Sometimes we see a product we love but can’t quite find the right colour or size that we need! You will notice that some products will have a note in the description which will indicate that an item is available for custom orders but some products may not… this does not mean that they are not available for a custom order - it just means that custom orders are not in high demand for that particular product or it is a product which may have a longer production time. Get in touch and send through an email with the required details and I’ll be in touch to let you know whether it is possible for me to make your variation or not… and what the time frame for the product will be.
In the majority of cases, the price will remain the same as the other variations in store - Potential variations to price could result from the addition of embellishments, a request for the product to be made from a different fibre or extreme changes to the original product that would result in an additional materials cost. Either way, there are no hidden costs - I will have a look at various options and produce quotes for you to compare in order to make an informed decision that is right for you.
During the consultation period, I will be able to advise you on the time frame for production - this will vary depending on the availability of materials. Occasionally specialised fibres or materials will need to be ordered for projects and this will lengthen the production time. This will all be outlined during consultation.
Once a decision has been made and you are happy with your custom order and quote - I will set up a custom order item variation in my store which will be accessible via the drop-down options for the available online products.

Once payment for your order has been received the purchase of materials and production will begin.
Once the item is completed you will receive a notification to let you know that it’s on its way.
Custom Orders for items, projects or unique creations that are NOT in my store.
Have a brilliant idea, pattern, or creation that you would like made? Get in touch and we can discuss the possibility of making it happen! These projects can often be a little more complex than variations to items already in store.
Before these projects take place there are a number of things to consider and keep in mind that will affect the cost and production time. I will be more than happy to discuss these with you in greater or more specific detail during the consultation, but here is a basic rundown of some things to keep in mind.
Pattern: There are many wonderful free patterns available but occasionally someone will request an item that is made from a pattern that needs to be purchased. The cost of the pattern purchase will be the responsibility of the buyer and can be added to the quote. This is not usually a significant amount but be aware that it will be added. If you have already purchased a pattern then that makes the process much easier and a quote much more accurate. Patterns are able to indicate how much material and equipment will be needed for the project. If you do not have a pattern but have a picture of what you would like made please send it through with your inquiry and I will do my best to locate a pattern for it.
Material/Fibre: I understand that often many of us are sensitive to certain fibres and materials, luckily today there is a huge range of options available. Different fibres offer different properties and come at different costs. Costs of various fibres can vary dramatically depending on the quality. As part of the consultation process, I will look into different options for you and provide you with the costing variation between products. As a general rule of thumb - the better the quality of the fibre or material the better the quality of the product that will be produced.
Size & Complexity: The size and complexity of a project will have a significant impact on the time it takes to make and the cost involved. Sometimes people forget that in this craft it is 1 hook and 1 pair of hands per project/item. Colourful projects are always beautiful and rewarding to make but the more colour changes required the more complex it makes a project and in turn the longer a project will take to complete. Needing a custom baby blanket made within a week for that baby shower on the weekend?… I’m telling you straight up - it won’t happen (well, at least not by me). Would I like to be able to pump out good quality projects quickly - Absolutely … is it possible in reality - NOPE! I will always endeavour to make projects in a timely manner and will be more than happy to send progress shots along the way, but please keep in mind that this craft takes time!
To give you an idea of how long some items take to make (approximate indication of time):
Scrunchies: 30mins - 1 hr
Beanies: 2 - 6 hrs
Small Baby Blankets and Throws: (simple pattern/complexity and little to no colour changes) 1-3 weeks
Medium Throws/Afghans and couch blankets 4-8 weeks
Keep in mind that the above times are a rough indication - these times may vary significantly depending on the custom project and variables such as the season and quantity of orders.
