My Story

It all began with an accidentally stolen (I prefer to think of it as permanently borrowed) crochet hook…

The infamous permanently ‘borrowed’ crochet hook!

The infamous permanently ‘borrowed’ crochet hook!

So - just to clarify… I am no thief! The ‘borrowed’ crochet hook that started all of this was in fact just a lonely crochet hook sitting upstairs in mums chaotic studio. For the life of me I can’t recall what it was that I was doing up there but I do recall that it was particularly warm and at the time I had long hair which I needed to put up but alas I had no hair tie - and that is when I locked eyes with my all time favourite hair uppity stick (the crochet hook). It worked a charm, I swished my hair around it and slipped it into place - the hook on the end was a bonus it held it in place perfectly!

Cut ahead a few months… kids are away for the week, taking the opportunity to have a deep clean of my room and I happened across this same hook - I looked at it perplexed as I had never crocheted before and it took me a moment to remember how I came to be in possession of it. Thinking I should return it to my mother I placed it on my bedside table so I would remember to take it next time I visited. It sat there for a couple of days - eventually, after much staring and contemplating, I finally bit the bullet and decided to get a ball of yarn, a coffee and my iPad. All comfy and set in my bed, I began watching youtube clips … I spent the day learning the basics and by the end of the day I was ‘hooked’ and determined to learn how to do this craft. It was difficult and challenging and I couldn’t put it down! Later that evening I was meant to be going to my sisters place for an evening of cocktails - what a dilemma! On one hand, I didn’t want to stop this crochet learning as (at that time) I believed I was on a roll and yet on the other, I had promised to go to this cocktail event - so what did I do? …

I kept my promise and went to that cocktail event … and I took my crochet with me! Cocktails & Crochet wow what a combination! As it turned out the later the night got the more relaxed my stitches became - his is how I learnt about tension and how I learnt to relax while crocheting. From there on I couldn’t put the hook down, any opportunity I had to learn a new stitch I’d give it a go. A couple of years later and here I am… Yay!

I was fortunate enough to also have a couple of very talented and encouraging colleagues who were also into crochet and they helped me out tremendously on my journey with encouragement and advice. More recently to get this store up and running and to set up my business in general, I couldn’t have done it without all of the support from one particular individual who very graciously put up with all my nagging, questioning, sticky nosing and harassment about how to do things and what works or what doesn’t etc… Thanks Zube’s!

Crocheting and making handmade goods has become one of my all time favourite down time activities… I only wish that I had more time to work on this craft. Needless to say juggling a job, family, the house/farm and other day to day necessities it can sometimes be difficult to find the time to work on my products. At every opportunity I take the time to sit and create - I strive to produce beautiful items of a high quality and this is not something that happens very quickly… So with that said… If stock or an item sells out please keep in mind that I only have 2 hands to work with and that these things take time! I will do my best to replenish stock as often as possible on the products that are in high demand. I will, at some point, be able to set up a ‘notify me’ option for those interested in products which may be out of stock or sold out. In the mean time stay informed with what products are available, restocked or what new products hit the store by following on Facebook and Instagram.

I hope you enjoy my products as much as I have enjoyed making them!
